The following articles are included here for your general interest and the use of students
and others interested in my work. They also give a good selection of examples of how to
apply NLP to how we think about life and behavior. These are included here as PDF’s
you can print out for your own use (and in a couple of cases to make them easier to read).
Just click on the title and it should pop right up.
If you wish to quote or reprint portions of any of these, except for your own use, please ask permission first. Thanks.
A Great Mind on the Mind: Steven Pinker Updates Some Old Presuppositions
An overview of the Cognitive Neurosciences and a review of Steven Pinker’s The Blank
Slate. Pinker is a superstar in psychology and this is a broad article on the mind,
philosophy of psychology and the relationship of these fields to NLP.
Edward Tufte: Walking the Talk, In Pictures
A look at the work of the great expert on how to display visual and graphical images that
help people understand information, and how to use it. There is also an interview that I
did with Tufte covering a wide range of issues.
Preparing Sensory-Based Direct Testimony Using Neuro-Linguistic Programming
This was written with attorney Paul Katz and is a look at how to use language in a way
that connects with people on a deep meaningful level. Specifically, this was written for
lawyers to help them prepare their witnesses before going into court, by teaching them
how to use sensory-based language. However, I think it’s something anyone who does
any kind of presentation can benefit from and find interesting.
A Conversation With Dr. Timothy Leary
Yes, that Timothy Leary, famed psychologist and icon of the 1960’s. A fascinating
interview with a truly great and unique mind. Our discussion was broad ranging and a lot of fun.

A brief introduction to the ideas and thinking underlying NLP, and how we do what we
do.
NLP: Beliefs, Congruency & Behavior
This is a broad look at how our beliefs, and basic assumptions about life, affect our
thinking and behavior. For those familiar with NLP, or not, it’s a good overview of some
of our basic presuppositions, along with some good questions to ask yourself along the
way.
NLP: Logic, Addictions & Co-Dependency
Some basic ideas on how our thinking affects our actions, including the ones that seem
out of our control: addictions. For those familiar with NLP (or not), this is a brief
introduction to Robert Dilts’ Neuro-Logical Levels of analysis and the language we use
in relationship to them.
Crime, Punishment & Culture
This was an article about a particular event and what it says about cultural views of what crime is, how we can affect it and ways of thinking about it more broadly. No less relevant today than it was when it was written.
